SRJC Foundation Ag Trust Committee
The SRJC Ag Trust is a committee of the SRJC Foundation, consisting of 16 members representing various segments of the agricultural community, as well as a select number of Ag/NR faculty. The Chair of the Ag Trust serves as a non-voting member of the SRJC Foundation Board to help ensure complete cooperation. "The SRJC Foundation's Ag Trust committee focuses on raising funds to support the SRJC Agriculture and Natural Resources Department which houses more than a dozen diverse program areas ranging from Sustainable Agriculture, Animal Science, and Horticulture to Natural Resources Conservation, Agri-Business and Viticulture. More than 1,200 students enroll in these courses each year. Ag Trust also provides support to Shone Farm, established in 1972, a 365 acre working farm that serves the diversified needs of the Agriculture/Natural Resources Department." The Ag Trust Committee raises funds primarily by organizing a biannual fund raiser entitled "Agstravaganza". This event includes a dinner, auction and sells sponsorships to raise funds. The funds go mainly into an endowment that annually supports student and staff development, instructional supplies and equipment, capital improvement projects, and the Steve Olson Agricultural Scholar-Leader Scholarship. Members of the Ag Trust Committee are also working with the Development Staff of the SRJC Foundation to identify and cultivate major donors.
