2017 AgStravaganza Live Auction Lots

Whale Watching from the Air

Up, up and away for an airy perspective on winter whale watching along the North Coast. Two lucky people will take a two-hour airplane trip to follow whales as they make their annual migration along the coast in Sonoma and Marin counties. You will be guided, educated and thoroughly entertained by marine biologist Dr. Robert Rubin, a longtime instructor in the Life Science Department at SRJC. During his 50 year career, Dr. Rubin has learned a thing or two about whales and the other marine life in the Pacific Ocean. You will fly from the Sonoma County airport, traveling west along the Russian River to the sea, then south to the Pt. Reyes headland to view migrating California Gray Whales on their way south to give birth in the lagoons of Baja California. Other whales, such as Humpbacks and Blues and several species of dolphins may also be observed from your comfortable seats on the plane. The trip will be planned on a mutually agreeable date during the peak migration period and when the skies are clear of clouds and fog. Depending on weather and the whales' migration patterns, the trip could be scheduled at the end of 2017 or in early 2018. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime high-flying whale watching expedition with a dedicated expert eager to share all he knows.

As an added bonus, Jim Goff, owner of the Sky Lounge Restaurant at the Charles Schulz Sonoma County Airport is providing the winning bidder a gift certificate for two for either a breakfast or lunch with mimosas!
